Modern Agriculture in Central and Eastern Europe
Conference Objectives
The conference will provide a special forum for eligible researchers to
build contacts with their peers from across Europe and leading researchers.
Young scientists are expected to play an active role at the conference. The
third Green Week Scientific Conference will concentrate on the processes of
integration and disintegration in the Central and Eastern European Countries
(CEEC) on different scales and focusing on the overall rural sector with a
crosscutting perspective. Drivers and barriers of change, impacts and patterns
of transition will be discussed.
Conference Topics
The conference 2009 will particularly address:
Participants
Junior researchers, engaged in post-graduate or post-doctoral studies from EU,
Associated States, as well as third countries are invited to present and discuss
their research projects and findings. Particularly young scientists from Central
and Eastern European countries are encouraged to apply. Participation of
researchers from all agricultural disciplines is envisaged. Participants who
played an active role at MACE Summer Schools or Training Courses can also apply.
Invited Speakers
The following Key Note Speakers contribute with a lecure to the conference:
Landscape agroecology: managing interactions between agriculture, nature and economy
Multifunctionality of agriculture: conceptualization and governance structures
EU membership and agricultural transition
Rural areas: development challenges, indicator and typology, modelling and relationship to urban areas
Third sector organizations in rural development: a transaction cost approach
Financial Support
The European Community provides limited financial support to eligible
participants, which covers parts of their travel, accommodation and subsistence
costs including the fee for conference participation. Members of the EU 27 and
Associated States may apply for funding. For a limited number of participants
from other countries as well as Germany funding is also available.
Call for Papers
All contributed abstracts will go through peer review. They have to be
submitted electronically no later than October 22th 2008 (see:

Notification of acceptance will be sent by October 30th 2008.
